Detailed forecast

Turning a little cloudier for a time at first this afternoon as scattered showers affect the island, some of which could be quite sharp. The showers will gradually clear away though later in the afternoon, allowing bright and sunny spells to redevelop. A mainly moderate south to south-westerly wind with highs of 11°C.

This evening will be mostly dry with sunny spells before it turns cloudy overnight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle possible from around dawn. The moderate southerly wind will back to the southeast and start to freshen, with minimum temperature around 5°C.

Outlook

Tomorrow will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, which will turn patchy during the afternoon, before becoming more widespread and persistent through the evening. The southeast wind will increase fresh to strong, with top temperature around 12°C.

Wednesday will start cloudy as a spell of rain moves across the island from the west during the morning, clearing to sunny spells for a time during the afternoon before another spell of rain arrives overnight. Quite windy with a strong south-southwesterly wind, which will start to ease later in the night as the rain clear. Maximum temperature around 13°C.

A showery trough will affect the Irish Sea at first this afternoon, as low pressure in the mid-Atlantic drives associated frontal troughs across the area during Tuesday.

Wind

Mainly south or southeast force 3 or 4, but occasionally 5 in the west of the area this afternoon. Then backing and increasing southeast 4 or 5 in all waters tonight, and 5 or 6 Tuesday morning.

State of Sea

Mainly slight, becoming slight or moderate later tonight and mainly moderate Tuesday morning, but remaining slight to moderate in the southeast of the area.

Weather

Occasional showers, dying away to become mainly fair later this afternoon & this evening. Then occasional rain and drizzle spreading from the southwest later tonight with mist patches developing in places during Tuesday.

Visibility

Mostly good, but occasionally moderate in any showers, and moderate or poor in rain, drizzle and mist later.
