Program News & Notes:  In October of 2007 we launched a new automation system (Haley)  for the hours when live shows are not on KSJC.  This system is a big improvement on the randomness of the old system as we are now programming genres of music in each hour time block.  The present program schedule and lineup of music reflects information gathered from the 71 people who responded to the 2007 KSJC Listener Survey.  Additional consideration was made for the music presently in our MP3 library to minimize the number and frequency of song repeats.  We anticipate continued improvement and subtle changes in music programming as new MP3 songs are routinely added to the system.

Do you hear your music on KSJC?  Consider donating your albums, CDs and mp3s to KSJC to share your music with our extended community!

The Future:  Two significant projects are slated for 2008 to make KSJC more responsive to the information needs of our listeners.

1. Webcams.  We’ve featured a webcam in the past and it’s been very popular with web viewers.  With sufficient support from our distant listeners we will re-launch and improve our webcam coverage to include two or three cameras/views.  This is a funding issue as an additional computer, cameras, wiring and bandwidth are all required. We have a great place to view the San Juans from now—our third story offices in the Silverton Visitor’s Center!

2. Internet weather station with 24/7 live Silverton weather data.  We’ve secured some of the funding for this important project but we’re still short of funds. Weather equipment, wiring, software and an additional computer are all needed to make this important feature a reality.

Both of these projects will be setup to allow underwriting opportunities.  Please email for more information on how you can participate in these two important KSJC projects.

Special Thanks:  To Jay Canode who gave thousands of hours of his time to KSJC and community radio over the past couple of years.  Jay and Amy have recently moved from Silverton to Paonia, Colorado and this community will miss their energy and activism greatly.  Thanks to Jay’s efforts, KSJC has survived beyond the initial wave of enthusiasm and is working toward sustaining itself in the future.  Thank you for all of your time and effort Jay and good luck in all your future endeavors!

Webcams On the Air Again: Thanks to a generous donation of $1,000 from Rick and Vivian Thomas of Hot Springs, Arkansas in January of 2008 we’ve been able to restore the webcam.  It’s better than ever as we’ve added a camera/view, improved image quality and relocated the cameras to the top floor of the Silverton Visitors Center.  What a view! Thank you Rick and Vivian for sharing your love of Silverton to web viewers.!

"We live in Hot Springs, Arkansas and first came to Silverton in 2003 with friends to ride the ATV trails.  We liked the town of Silverton so much that we've returned twice since then and plan on returning this summer and hope to have many more trips.   We enjoy looking at KSJC's webcam and really missed it when it went down. We were glad to have the opportunity to donate to the station and look forward to viewing the web cam to see the beautiful sights of the town.  Between the KSJC web cam and reading the newspaper we can still enjoy Silverton when we're not there.”
