The Department of Infrastructure says an impact assessment got underway last month.
The department confirmed to Manx Radio that the impact assessment commenced in December, and the site is currently being reviewed and potential options evaluated.
It comes more than two years after government announced plans to demolish the building, after it was assessed to be beyond repair.
That decision was reversed following a further examination.
Last year the DoI confirmed work to restore the facility would involve essential structural improvements and the installation of a replacement roof.
