Municipal Association due to discuss legislation today
Despite promised talks with government on the Local Government Amendment Bill, the chair of the Municipal Association says he doesn't feel adjournment of the Bill has defused things.
Recently appointed Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall pushed back debate on the legislation until 10 March to allow for further meetings with local authorities.
The Bill includes the controversial clause 5 on imposed functions.
Peter Washington is due to chair talks today (Thursday), and says members listening to the debate will have been very unhappy:
