It happened at NCAS at Balladoole
The Isle of Man Fire Service has issued a warning over the disposal of flares after a blaze at the Northern Civic Amenity Site at Balladoole.
Two pumping appliances and the Chemical Incident Support Unit attended the incident on Saturday morning, where Ramsey crews quickly extinguished the fire with support from staff on site.
It’s believed the blaze was caused by flares discarded in burnable waste, prompting reminders that hazardous items such as flares and batteries must be disposed of responsibly to avoid fire risks.
The site was closed for a short time to be cleared and made safe.
Meanwhile the business Harbour Marine Services in Castletown says it offers free flare disposal.
Owner Paul Hampton told us a lot of people come to them asking how to dispose of them safely:
You can contact them on 822995.
